Card edge connector
Card edge connector is a computer hardware device that transmits all signals between memory modules and memory slots, as well as between graphics cards and card slots. The Card edge connector is composed of numerous golden conductive contacts, and is called the "Card edge connector" because its surface is plated with gold and the conductive contacts are arranged like fingers. The Card edge is actually coated with a layer of gold on the copper clad plate through electroplating process, because the strong oxidation resistance of gold can protect the internal circuit from corrosion, and the strong conductivity does not cause signal loss. At the same time, gold has strong ductility, which can increase the contact area between contacts under appropriate pressure, thereby reducing contact resistance and improving signal transmission efficiency. Due to the thickness of the coating being only a few tens of micrometers, it is highly susceptible to wear and tear. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid unplugging and inserting components with gold fingers under unnecessary conditions to extend their service life.
All data and electronic streams of the memory processing unit are exchanged with the PC system through the contact between the gold finger and the memory slot, and are the output and input ports of the memory. Therefore, its manufacturing process is very important for memory connection.
